About
George Katz, Founder and Design Director of Perishable Goods (Established in 2013), boasts over 15 years of seasoned expertise in commerce and culture. Renowned for his craft in creating iconic designs across diverse brands and individuals, he excels in refining visual identity systems and providing artistic direction for campaigns.
Commencing his career at Duffy in Minneapolis in 2004, George collaborated on projects for renowned brands such as Coca-Cola (Sprite, Fresca, Powerade), as well as smaller entities like Mona Lisa Hotels, Mill City Farmers Market, and internal collateral for Duffy. Later, he ventured independently, lending his talents to agencies such as Logan, 180LA, and BBDO, focusing on advertising, branding, and visual identity systems for prominent clients like Apple and Sony.
In 2010, George joined forces with former Duffy colleague David Mashburn to establish the design consultancy "Mashburn Katz," catering to esteemed clients including Rizzoli, Christie’s, Adidas, Nike, Google, and local fashion brands across various design disciplines.
Their collaboration led to George and David's appointment as Co-Design Directors at McCann New York in 2014. Together, they led a team of designers and made significant contributions to notable campaigns for clients such as Verizon, MGM Resorts, Catch, Godiva, and the iconic "Fearless Girl" for State Street.
George's work has garnered recognition in prestigious publications and has been honored with awards from renowned organizations such as The One Club, D&AD, Clios, and Cannes, including four Grand Prix Lions. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and nurtures a passion for landscape and product photography alongside his design career.
